Tohoku University Technology: Autism Spectrum Marker: T14-105
By examining the father's samples, it is possible to predict the incidence of autism spectrum disorder in children.
Autism spectrum disorder is a group of developmental disorders characterized by qualitative abnormalities in social interaction, qualitative abnormalities in communication, and restricted interests and repetitive behavior patterns. It has been reported that the higher the age of the father at the time of having children, the higher the incidence of autism spectrum disorder in children. The inventors have confirmed that the older the age of wild-type father mice, the higher the methylation level of H3K79me3 in their offspring, and that the higher this level, the more significant the reduction in ultrasonic vocalizations (USV), which are considered model behaviors in autism spectrum disorder model mice.
